Dandelife rolls out first major upgrade

 

One month old Dandelife.com(a social biography site) rolled out a major upgrade yesterday. Now users can select fellow users of dandelife.com as Friends, Family or Fan and add them to their profile like any social networking site. If you have been mentioning some person/people in you stories, dandelife as added feature which suggest related user of dandelife to you. So if that person is on dandelife you can choose to add him as Friends, Family or Fan.

Now you can also display your stories as blog (earlier all the stories were being displayed on timeline), though the blog tool is nothing compared to other full fledged blogging platforms but it gives nice look to the story page. Though this feature lacks some basic blog features like you cannot comment on the stories being displayed on the blog page. The link is not active (probably they will roll out some more changes).

Now the home page, has featured users section, which showcase the users, though I still could not figure out the mystery how they select/rate popular stories and users. The newly added features of View Count (counter) could be one of the criteria.

They have just introduced Timelet (dandelife badge) which you could add to your site/blogs by inserting a few lines of code, and that will display five randomly picked up stories from your dandelife stories.

The other changes are, a new and improved navigation bar and tool to invite your friends on dandelife. If recent changes are any indication, we are going to see/hear a lot about the site in future, it has already got more than 4000 users and 10000 stories.

Some features one can expect in dandelife are

•  timeline consumption of Books, Movies and other items.
• automatically publish blogs from wordpress / blogger /livejournal accounts, the site allows us to import blogs but all blogs are added to the day you import. It does not maintain the timeline.
• since people do not have stories everyday to tell, the site might not get as many visitors as blogs, but features like rating the day - Excellent/Good/Bad and quickly jotting down few reasons for that may ensure regular content and regular visits.
• geographical grouping of users
• better search tool for people / user search
