Getting rid of addiction

Recently I started to feel that I am getting addicted to Internet. So when I moved to India, I took a conscious decision to just use Internet only when it is too urgent and there is no otherway out. Well, earlier the thought gave me some scary feeling, but some compulsion and some willpower made this happen.

In last one month, i was online just only to check mails that too once in 2-3 days (sine i took this period off from my professional life, so it was okey for me), and cut down all my online activities. And at the end of the this month, I realize some really interesting things.

  • You do not need to check emails every ten minutes. No body expects you to reply within 10 minutes, if matter is that urgent they might give you a call.
  • No need to check news sites every half an hour, even if you miss some breaking news, you are not supposed to be court martialed for that.
  • You can still be in society without visiting Social networking sites Orkut, MySpace.
  • Your bookmarks on Bluedot, MaGnolia, Del.icio.us are not that much eagerly awaited that you should spend one hour surfing for some interesting stuff that you can share with your friends.
  • Having Yahoo Msg, Skype etc installed on your computer does not mean that you should always be online and obliged to reply each and every hiiiiiiiiiiiiii.
  • Your blog readers are not going to gherao your residence if you do not post regularly.
